KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) -- This year's mass breaking of fast (Iftar) at Dataran Kuala Lumpur, which began today, is targetting 90,000 visitors, including city folks and foreign tourists.

The Iftar program @ Kuala Lumpur 2019 director, Rosnan Nordin, said the programme attracted 66,839 visitors last year, including 6,882 foreign tourists whose attendance added festivity to the event.

"This year, we are confident it will attract 90,000 visitors, more than last year since the Ramadan Bazaar in Jalan Raja is expected to lure more visitors to break fast together," he told reporters here today.

He said 15 activities will be held at Iftar@Kuala Lumpur 2019, such as Al-Quran recitation, Al-Quran Tahsin clinic, food trucks, a talk on Ramadan, Islamic Tourism exhibition and Ramadan concert to be participated by 200 volunteers.

"This year, we have prepared mobile services and counters for zakat, umrah packages and organ donation pledge as well for the convenience of visitors.

"Through Iftar@Kuala Lumpur 2019, Ramadan is the month where the Islamic spirit and arts can be spread to the community, particularly the young," he said.

After the breaking of fast, the Maghrib, Isyak and Terawih prayers will be performed and visitors will be entertained by local artistes such as UNIC, Nowseeheart and Iman Syahman.

Iftar@Kuala Lumpur is now in its eighth year and held every Saturday and Sunday throughout Ramadan for six times beginning today, tomorrow, May 18,19, 25 and 26.
